Six Lines That Turn Practice Into Progress
Most practice fails for a boring reason: nothing is written down. Paper trading fixes that, because the record is the whole exercise.
Paper trading means following a method with hypothetical positions. You note what you would have done, follow the outcome as if it were real, and review the difference between plan and result without risking money.
It suits news-based research particularly well, because a current signal creates urgency that no beginner should be trading on before they have tested the routine behind it.
Keep the rule small enough to repeat. One workable pattern: take a candidate from the ForceTrend (https://forcetrend.com) Leaderboard, read the related coverage, check the chart, and write an entry condition before you record a hypothetical trade.
Then journal every one of them with the same six lines: what it was, why it interested you, your planned entry, your risk limit, your exit condition, and what actually happened. Add a seventh for the lesson if you like.
Do not curate. A rehearsal that ends in nothing is still a data point, and usually a clarifying one.
Judge the method only on a real sample. Three wins tell you nothing and three losses tell you nothing; thirty entries measured against unchanged rules begin to tell you something.
The History view in ForceTrend (https://forcetrend.com) is a useful second opinion, since it lets you revisit earlier saved news snapshots and compare them with later price movement. Still hypothetical, but a genuine test of consistency.
Be equally clear about what practice cannot do. Simulation excludes the fear, greed, fees, spreads, slippage and thin liquidity that arrive with real money, and each of those changes behaviour.
Which is why the log is training, not proof. It shows that a process exists; it does not promise that the process pays.
Still, the transfer is real: plan first, tolerate failed ideas, and keep the quality of the process separate from the luck of the outcome.
